Fort Cambridge boosts safety and convenience with four hoisting cabins

Apartments in Malta - Hoist

2nd March 2010

Another substantial investment has been made to the Fort Cambridge apartments in Malta with the purchasing of four hoisting cabins, making this development the first and only project in Malta to make use of these machines. This investment further enriches the developers’ vision for the apartments in Malta, where every care has been taken to make Fort Cambridge unique and truly state of the art, while meticulously ensuring the highest standards of safety on site, all throughout.

Hoisting cabins (often known simply as ‘cages’) provide safer and more efficient vertical transportation of both materials and personnel. GAP Developments plc, the developer of Fort Cambridge, has purchased four of these hoisting ‘cages’, which will be serving the whole development. The ‘cages’ purchased, which are manufactured by one of the most renown firms in the industry, have cabins of 3.2m by 1.7m in size. These ‘cages’ are self-erecting and can carry a load of up to a total of 2 tons. They can travel a maximum of 200m, although at Fort Cambridge they will only be used to cover distances of a maximum of 64m.

The cages purchased are fully EU compliant and as such offer themselves a high degree of operational safety. This is in line with the level of professionalism and attention to both detail and quality ensure by the developers in every step taken since the project started. It is this, along with previous substantial investments related not only to safety but also to energy conservation, convenience and aesthetics that make these apartments in Malta so unique.

Works on the freehold Fort Cambridge project is now entering its final stages. The project is on target for completion by the middle of 2011. Currently the south block has reached the seventh storey, while the other blocks have all reached the fifth.  In the south block residents will be in a position to move in by summer 2010
